Legend of the Secret
Turn-based combat mini-RPG in JavaFX
Game Overview
Legend of the Secret is a JavaFX project I created during the fifth semester of my Computer Science degree. The project’s goal was to introduce us to Object-Oriented Programming.
It is a classic turn-based combat mini-RPG featuring five playable classes: Warriors, Spearmen, Barbarians, Hunters, and Mages.
Combat System
The tactical combat system is based on the Weapon Triangle. Warriors wield swords, Lancers use spears, and Barbarians carry axes. This establishes a system of strengths and weaknesses among the classes: swords beat axes, axes beat spears, and spears beat swords.
As for the other two classes, both are vulnerable to the first three—since they are not designed for melee combat—but they have a higher chance of dealing critical damage.
The Hunter starts with a Bow (and a supply of arrows) as well as a healing spell.
The Mage starts with two offensive spells: a basic one and another that consumes more mana.
After the introductory cutscene, the player can choose from three save slots to create their character before heading into battle!

You can also visit good old René’s shop between battles to buy more powerful weapons—since weapons don’t last forever!
